Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Dianthus, known as ‘pinks,’ are vibrant, low-growing perennials with ruffled blooms in an array of red, pink, purple, and white colors. With dianthus, there is no need to sacrifice beauty for utility; it’s perfect for lining pathways or making a statement in a container. Here, we’ll show you how to grow and care for dianthus, discuss how to use dianthus and answer frequently asked questions about this prolific bloomer.
Six nice plants. Very dry upon delivery. Planted in sunny space same day with heavy watering. All will survive, but four have a bit of a struggle with center browning. I'm happy to have found these plants since most Dianthus are only sold as seeds.

They don’t look well. At first I thought I had to dead head them. But then I thought, hmm… this is ground cover. One doesn’t dead head ground cover. Right?
I hope they’ll catch on and grow nicely.
Love this online nursery and have used them many times. The paint the town red dianthus pictures online are more of a bright red than what showed up. Needed some bright colors for rock garden and these are more maroon burgundy red. The packaging and arrival time was again spot on, just disappointed that the color was so far off.
I realize computers are sometimes different than actual colors but they were way darker than expected. Love this nursery and will continue to use them. Just a little disappointed ☹️
Hopefully next year they’ll bloom brighter.
Packed so well that the plant was "happy as can be” when it arrived. It is now a beautiful addition to my garden. I will definitely buy more plants from GGP.
I'm a beginner gardener and have several plants from Great Garden Plants in my balcony "garden". I've been pleased with all of them, but this dianthus has been amazing. I'm in Philadelphia, and there were flowers on it until DECEMBER! (Ordered and planted in spring 2022 btw, writing review in Jan 2023.) My favorite plant out of all of them!
