Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Support pollinators and local wildlife by growing natives. We offer over 200 plants native to North America, and we've compiled a list of our favorites that will happily call your garden home.
The plant arrived on time, well packaged and in great shape. It took to planting and is looking healthy.
I ordered these for my front yard where I have a lot of deer traffic. The plants arrived well packed and healthy but within 48 hrs of planting, deer ate them to the ground.
We're sorry that the deer enjoyed your plants before you could. Young plants are especially susceptible to deer damage, so we highly recommend protecting new plants in areas with high deer traffic. All orders are covered by our 60-day guarantee, so please send your order number and pictures of your plants to claims@greatgardenplants.com to start the claims process. We look forward to helping! https://bit.ly/ggp-guarantee
I ordered two of these for a problematic, shady, wet space in my yard. Healthy, although a tad small but very full. I am pleased with the quality and condition of them.
I bought 2 rather pricey goatsbeards and both appear to be dying. They
are in large well drained pots in mostly shade. I don't know why this is happening.
I've been landscaping with native plants and the goatsbeard was perfect for a space along a retaining wall. The plants were well packaged and arrived happy and healthy and ready for planting.
