Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Do you dream of a flower-filled landscape or garden with never-ending beauty? We do, too: that’s why we’ve compiled a list of our favorite long-blooming shrubs! Start your planting with these ten flowering shrubs that provide months instead of weeks of colorful blooms.
I've had this shrub for a couple of years now. It arrived healthy and transplanted well. It has established relatively quickly. The only downside (and it's a major one) is that the main selling feature - the rainbow of new growth color - is almost non-existent. This shrub is pitched as a colorful then blue-tone shrub, but it's really just a standard green shrub with white flowers with just a tiny bit of color on new growth.
We're sorry you're unsatisfied with your plant! As noted on our product page, new growth will emerge green, but as the shrub ages with that new growth, the foliage will begin to take on more of the blue tones you are expecting! We would love to investigate further. Please send photos and your order number to claims@greatgardenplants.com, where one or our friendly customer service team members will be waiting to assist you further.
Plants arrived in April and I planted the next day. They are growing great and I am waiting for blooms. Great little plants.
Beware. They did not ship what I ordered (Blue Kazoo) but substituted Glow Girl spirea instead.

Hi there - Thanks for asking for feedback. I ordered from Great Garden Plants because a gardener I follow on YouTube had nice things to say about the quality. I had a different experience - I knew my one quart plants would be small, but they were also pretty broken when they arrived. I planted them anyway and they're doing just fine, but I've ordered many plants in the mail from house plants to roses to trees so I know what's possible in terms of protective packaging. Not sure I would order from Great Garden Plants again.
Hello Christie! Thank you so much for giving us a try and leaving your feedback, as we really appreciate it. We are so sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with your plants and apologize that you received plants that are not up to our standards. While we try our best to provide exceptional service, some factors, like shipping and handling, are outside our control, and issues like this can sometimes happen. As for the sizes of the quart plants, We do note that all of our plants are young on each product page and on our plant sizes page https://www.greatgardenplants.com/pages/sizes.The size and maturity of the plants varies widely depending on the time of the year you purchased and if they were recently trimmed. The important thing when it comes to purchasing plants, whether online or in a garden center, is that they have a full, robust root system, and that's what we prioritize in our greenhouses. Please email pictures of the plants to claims@greatgardenplants.com, making sure to put your order number and name in the subject line so that we may provide the best assistance possible. Thank you for your order, Happy Gardening!
I am very disappointed with my 3 plants. As a Michigander I was excited to order from a Michigan nursery but these plants are tiny and the leaves are discolored and curling. I will be surprised if they survive and will not order again from this company. Overpriced for the small size and poor quality.
