Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Description Enjoy vibrant pops of orange-red color with the 'Flamenco' Trumpet Vine. This vine boasts gorgeous 3” bell shaped blooms from midsummer to frost and can climb to a height of about 30’. It is considered extremely vigorous, and tends to spread quickly, and its tendency for cluster blooming makes an impact on its glossy green foliage and is a perfect vine for trellises, arbors, and fences!

Trumpet vine ( Campsis radicans ) is a native North American plant with glossy dark green elliptical leaves. Clusters of trumpet-shaped red, orange, or yellow flowers appear during the summer months and reach around 1 to 3 inches long before giving way to bean-like seed capsules. These flowers are very attractive to hummingbirds and other pollinators. Trumpet vine can extend as much as 40 feet when mature and is an aggressive spreader that should be grown with caution. None have bloomed, not even the ones that arrived with buds on them. Hard to say if nothing has come of them.

Hello! Thank you for leaving feedback. When transplanting young plants from a nursery pot to a garden, the plant allocates more energy to root development instead of shoot development (above ground). It's important for them to develop a robust root system so they can absorb the nutrients and water in the soil around them. Then after their root system is more developed, they'll invest in their shoots and flower development. They generally spend their first year growing roots in their new home, in the second year, they have more energy to put into growth; and in the third year, they grow and flower vigorously. Great vine!

Plant arrived healthy and in good condition and well packaged. It's doing fine in the ground so far and I can't wait until it starts flowering!
