Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Very Nice Shrubs!

The 6 shrubs arrived in good condition. I followed the instructions and planted them a few days later. They're small compared to the overgrown bushes we pulled out, but so far they look great!

Not suitable for North Texas (Zone 8)

These trees are being advertised as suitable for Zone 8 (which includes North Texas, specifically Dallas-Ft. Worth). We bought 7 trees and after receiving them we followed all the instructions recommended to avoid stressing the plants, planted them and put mulch around them except on the trunk, etc; we also put an irrigation system and the plants thrived. During the Spring, the trees looked gorgeous, BUT after the horrible heat wave we had in 2022, all my Fluffy Arborvitaes died. All 6 trees, except one and you can tell it's doing horribly. Not sure why these nurseries continue to advertise these plants are suitable for hot weather. They are not. Save your money and buy something that's natural to your location.
