Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Description Fringed Bleeding Heart (Dicentra eximia) has all the charm we love about bleeding heart, but unlike others, this one is native to the United States! This everblooming native perennial flowers freely from spring to frost with clusters of heart-shaped flowers.  Pale pink hearts peel back at the bottom, revealing extra petals, giving this plant the name bleeding heart. Since it's heat tolerant, the gray-green foliage stays looking fresh all season long with adequate moisture. Extra dissected leaves adding almost as much charm as the flowers! Try planting it in a rock garden, as ground cover, or underplanting shrubs, and it won't disappoint. All it needs to succeed is a well-draining soil, part sun or shade, and a home in your garden. Love love love.

Have not been able to get these in NJ because I’m always too late. One of my garden favorites and I found them here off season for my region. They are flourishing. Bought extra because they were cheap enough and assumed I would lose some. Not so much! I was able to share extras with a neighbor. Great quality and look forward to seeing these babies grow year over year!
