More Information

Description No other hedge plant can hold a candle to the rapid growth and narrow, space-saving habit of Full Speed A Hedge® 'American Pillar' arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis). It solves the problem of both waiting forever for an evergreen hedge to fill in AND taking up too much space in your (and your neighbors') yard once it does. 'American Pillar' arborvitae is one of the best privacy trees on the market today, growing up to 3 feet each year under ideal conditions. It's also narrow, making it a great space-saving option for mass planting along borders, fences and hedges. Plant 'American Pillar' arborvitaes with their centers 2.5' apart - eight plants will provide 20' of lush, year-round privacy. With proper care, you can practically watch them grow, turning your yard into an oasis of privacy, and at a low cost compared to traditional fencing. This arborvitae is also heat and cold-tolerant, making it an excellent choice for an array of growing zones.

Healthy tree

Purchased 1 tree this time around to replace one out of 13 that I purchased last September that didn't make it.
As always, tree arrived on time, packaged well, and healthy.
Thank you! I'm excited to watch these trees continue to grow.
The tree in the middle of the picture is of the most recent purchase.
I recommend purchasing from Great Garden Plants!

Arrived bent and broken.

All 6 plants I ordered were shoved into the box with the tops bent over, cracked at the bark, and with broken limbs. The growth tips were folded into the tops of the cardboard boxes, layered. They are still at a 90° angle. Absolutely stunned they were sent like this.

Hello! We’re sorry that you received plants that are not up to our standards. We try our best to provide excellent plants, but some factors, like shipping and handling, are outside our control. That’s why we have a 60-day guarantee on all of our orders. Please email your order number and pictures of your plants to claims@greatgardenplants.com to start the claims process. We look forward to helping! https://bit.ly/ggp-guarantee

1 year later, American Pillar

Very happy with my AP's after one year of growth. I purchased 13 trees, all are very healthy and thriving. Trees are planted roughly 2.5ft apart & receive about 4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Looking to create a dense 15ft wall of privacy before the empty lot next door gets developed in 2026.
