Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

I bought an assortment of perennials for the southwest corner of our house.
Overall, the results are mostly positive. The four fuzzy wuzzy lamb's ear look like they are going to do well.
These photos are about a month after planting in St. Louis County. It's been very hot but they are still alive.
Recently planted lambs ear is settling in nicely. Came in great shape when shipped. Beautiful border addition to new bed.
All eight stachys arrived in packed, moist soil containers, looking a little droopy but fat and happy otherwise. These were big babies and I was excited to snip off the wrapper and drop them into my garden bed. About an hour after soaking them in, the little ears began to perk up. Then more... and by the next day I could tell they were thriving. I am very happy with my purchase and continue to shop quality plants right here at Great Garden Plants. Thanks for all you do to create a wonderful experience for homeowners like me.
Plants are fine, way overpriced for what we got though.
We’re sorry you’re not satisfied with our prices! Unfortunately, it’s not always easy (or cheap) to grow great plants. Our prices reflect the quality and care we put into each plant, plus the availability of unique selections that can’t often be found in garden centers. To save on your order, watch for different sales and promos throughout the season.
I love lambs ear. It's one of my favorites, so even though it was out of my zone I had to get one. I'm so pleased with my little guy. It's not been long but so far he's like doubled in size.
