Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

These were marked zone 9 but have all died or dying: Jacobs ladder, monkey plant, Proven winners rose mallow. I ordered a 2 gallon rose mallow directly from Proven Winners and it is doing ok. The one you sent me didnt look good when it arrived/

My mother implied she would like flowers planted under her RedBud tree and I chose the Jacob’s Ladder. It’s been in the ground about 3 weeks now and seems very happy.
I’M always a little leery of ordering plans through mail order due to negative experiences with other nurseries. I have made several orders thorough Great Garden Plants and have had great success; have yet to lose any plants. They are packed well, some maybe a bit small but establish well in garden. Thanks!
Unfortunately, the two Jacobs Ladders I received were not healthy at all. One was almost dead and dried up and the other was not much better. I followed the directions and watered them and kept them indoors for two days then planted them in the perfect location and waited. I tended to them for a couple of weeks but they never improved and finally withered away. This was the first time I've had an issue with any of your plants. I was very surprised!
