Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Weigela is a deciduous shrub that has quickly become one of the most popular landscape plants on the market today. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular: weigela is easy to grow, deer-resistant, versatile, and has vibrant blooms that attract pollinators like a magnet. Here, we’ll show you how to grow and care for weigela shrubs and answer your frequently asked questions.
1 qt specimen came well packaged and I was so pleased to see how healthy and lush it was. I popped it in a planter with some creeping Jenny so they can enjoy the sun together. I don’t expect to see blooms until next spring, but I’m not worried about it surviving winter. Great plant! Love the foliage.
This is my second time ordering here. Both time my plants arrived in good time and packaged impressively. The plants are healthy and vibrant.
Great shrub and easy to grow.
Beautiful foliage paired next to my Mountain Tuff hydrangeas. I'm very excited watching my yard blossom.
I REALLY wanted to like these shrubs as they looked beautiful on the site and were compact enough for the space that I wanted to use them. When they arrived, I was very excited because all 10 were packaged so well and were a nice size! They looked good in the space I wanted them. Unfortunately, after a while, they started to lose their leaves, started curling up and turning brown. After testing their bark, all of them were brown instead of green on the inside. I was so sad! I called Great Garden Plants, told them what happened, sent pictures, and they sent me new ones which arrived quickly. I planted those, and the same issue is happening again. I'm really sad because I liked those shrubs but I don't know why they're not taking to my soil, which is pretty good. I'm probably going to have to switch to the Midnight Sun version, which I also ordered with the first go-round, and those are doing great!
