Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

I ordered 3 of the carpet azaleas. Two of the three were robust and are putting on new growth but the 3rd one is weak, leaves are falling off and has dead branches throughout. Disappointed because I had already picked out a place to put them but now I'm having to wait for a replacement before I can put them in the ground.

Great Garden Plants always ships promptly and plants arrive in excellent shape. These 4 reblooming azaleas were no exception. They are the perfect complement to the driveway beds. I am so happy with the color, the size, and the condition of the plants.
Two shipments containing a dozen plants and zero issues. The shipping is pure genius and all arrived in fine shape, still with some dampness, no soil leakage, no breakage. Fabulous selection, wonderful to order from and will do so again!
I got two for planters in my front yard. One is in full sun, one in partial (the plant info says it can take both). They both did great for 2 months. Once the heat picked up the one in full sun died. The one in partial is still doing excellent. Unfortunately, I need matching plants for my matching planters, so I'm back to the drawing board.
