Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Description Sunsets may be fleeting, but the flowers on 'Sassy Summer Sunset' yarrow (or Achillea) last for months in the landscape. They initially bloom in early summer with dark orange florets, but pick up golden hues as they age. Extra tall stems hold flowers upright (reaching 36" tall), but don't fret! Unlike older cultivars, 'Sassy Summer Sunset' has sturdy stems that won't flop throughout the season. Enjoy it on its own, or mix it with the other yarrows in the Sassy Summer series to create a garden that genuinely rivals a summer sunset.

Yarrows have long been used in sunny and dry gardens but have recently resurged among cut-flower gardeners. Yarrows are vigorous growers that bloom prolifically through summer. Extra-long stems and fragrant clusters of flowers are ideal for cut arrangements (fresh or dried). Fresh flowers have an expected vase life of 5-7 days, but dried flowers can be enjoyed for weeks. The plants were in good shape and are still doing well. I had spent alot of time trying to get yarrow Terra Cotta and thought that was what I ordered. What you sent was Sassy Summer Sunset which will be pinker, It is already planted so...nothing really to do about it.

Sassy Summer Sunset' Yarrow

They came happy, healthy and cropped short for shipping. We are in the mountains of North Carolina. We can get quite hot in the sun, and when they arrived in July, we were experiencing very little rain. I kept them in a shady area and kept them watered. I finally planted them, and they are loving the sunny spot with all the rain. One of them has blooms on it :-)
