Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

The start of fall may signal the gardening season is coming to a close, but it’s not over yet! There is still plenty of time to enjoy colorful flowers and foliage or even sprinkle in some new perennials and shrubs before winter arrives.
The plants were well packed and in good condition to plant. They are now planted and we wait for growth.
By the time the plant arrived it was past its bloom time so I’m looking forward to seeing it in it’s best season. It arrived healthy and am happy with the size of it. So far it’s remaining healthy in its new home!
Only one of the two I ordered lived. It is doing fine considering the amount of rain we have received. Looking forward to seeing it in bloom next year.
Hi Mary,
We apologize that some of the plants you received are not up to our standards. While we try our best to provide exceptional service, some factors, like shipping and handling, are outside our control, and issues like this can sometimes happen. Please email pictures of the plants to claims@greatgardenplants.com, making sure to put your order number and name in the subject line so that we may provide the best assistance possible. Rest assured, we have a 60-day guarantee on all our plants. If you received your plants within that timeframe, we would be happy to apply your warranty once we receive the pictures. Happy Gardening!

Order of 5 plants only two survived, this being one that didn't. The plant that was sent was so small and just looked like a weed that was pulled out of the ground. I though I could get it to survive but of course it tried to but didn't make it. After the fact that it was past the 60 days, they won't do anything except they want me to repay and they will send me another one. I do not recommend them, the product is not always consistent. This was my second order to them, place another one I don't think so!
Hello! Thank you for leaving us feedback. Our plant sizes do vary widely depending on the variety you purchased and the time of year. The important thing when it comes to purchasing plants, whether online or in a garden center, is that they have a full, robust root system, and that's what we prioritize in our growing. The more roots a plant has, the more energy it can put into growing once it is planted in your garden.
Do you have any photos of the plant and it's roots when you first received the plant? We take pride in the plants that we ship and would like to know more about the state of the plant when it arrived to you.
Happy Gardening!
