Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

My coneflower arrived in healthy condition. However as o was reading planting instructions it said zones 8-10 😳. I have several coneflowers and I don't know why I didn't catch this when i ordered as I'm in zone 6. Am I able to keep it inside until next spring or is it doomed?
Hello! We're sorry about this experience! We trust our customers to make sure they're shopping for plants that grow best in their gardening zones, which is why we make sure to include the appropriate zones multiple times on each product page. We completely understand that sometimes you may not read closely before purchasing, but we still expect this to be important information the customer considers when buying our plants. We are currently working to make this notification more obvious at checkout so that we can prevent situations like this in the future! You can overwinter them in pots, but this plant will not thrive outdoors in your zone. We are always here to help, so please contact claism@greatgardenplants.com with any further questions and we would be happy to advise further. We look forward to helping!
