Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Beautiful flowers I almost lost it
Arrived in beautiful condition! Planted immediately! Cannot wait to see how they blossom!!!
So far, the Holy Grail is being kind to me as I’ve been caring for it during a drought. The sun burned one leaf and it didn’t even complain. In fact, it seems to be ever so kind because it has 3 new buds! I’m very happy with it and will buy it some future company next year.
Last year I left a review for the Holy Grail hibiscus in August. This year I am here to update. They are gorgeous. Unfortunately, I still have not planted them in the ground. The area I intended for them to go is not ready yet. I did upgrade them to a larger pot and they are content in there for now. All 3 of the ones I ordered came back after the winter. I cut them back after the last frost and they started to sprout around April and are packed with buds and starting to bloom. I can only imagine how huge they will get after planted in the ground.
My Holy Grail hibiscus is doing just fine. I will be so glad when it is really big.
