More Information

Description Summerific ‘Holy Grail’ hibiscus (aka rose mallow or Hibiscus moscheutos) from Proven Winners will be one of the true head-turners in your garden or landscape. Just look at the richness and uniqueness of this color scheme: deep red flowers and near-black foliage. The show begins mid-summer and lasts for weeks beyond, providing a dramatic display of enormous dish-shaped blooms. It looks fabulous with yellow flowering plants like black-eyed Susan or coreopsis. Summerific hibiscus from Proven Winners are herbaceous perennials, so unlike their close cousin rose of Sharon, they die back to the ground in fall and begin each year fresh in spring. They are one of the latest perennials to emerge in spring, but watching them transform from tiny buds to big, healthy plants in a matter of weeks is nothing short of delightful. These are great plants for beginners – anyone, really! Details How To Grow

Hardy and Easy to Grow!

So far, the Holy Grail is being kind to me as I’ve been caring for it during a drought. The sun burned one leaf and it didn’t even complain. In fact, it seems to be ever so kind because it has 3 new buds! I’m very happy with it and will buy it some future company next year.

Thriving almost a year later!

Last year I left a review for the Holy Grail hibiscus in August. This year I am here to update. They are gorgeous. Unfortunately, I still have not planted them in the ground. The area I intended for them to go is not ready yet. I did upgrade them to a larger pot and they are content in there for now. All 3 of the ones I ordered came back after the winter. I cut them back after the last frost and they started to sprout around April and are packed with buds and starting to bloom. I can only imagine how huge they will get after planted in the ground.

My Holy Grail hibiscus is doing just fine. I will be so glad when it is really big.
