Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Plants are "Booming"

The Boom Chocolattas have taken off and are thriving in their space. They have bloomed once and I deadheaded so now they are putting on new growth like crazy. We've been blessed with a mild spring and weekly rains which really gave them a good start. Thank you for sending such healthy plants.

Pretty!

This poor plant… it was delivered in standard condition and I planted it shortly after arrival. After the first week, voles decided to feast on all the new growth. It quickly regrew and it got to a point where it was getting beautiful blue-purple blooms! Then a strong storm came through last week and snapped the branch with the blooms. After all that, the plant is still getting new growth and I may even see more blooms before the end of summer! None of the setbacks have seemed to phase it. I can’t wait for it to develop a stronger root system so it can reach full size! It is a stunner!
