Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Weigela is a deciduous shrub that has quickly become one of the most popular landscape plants on the market today. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular: weigela is easy to grow, deer-resistant, versatile, and has vibrant blooms that attract pollinators like a magnet. Here, we’ll show you how to grow and care for weigela shrubs and answer your frequently asked questions.
All of the other plants I ordered were in good shape. With my first order, this one arrived completely crispy and nearly dead. I planted it and hoped that being in the ground would help, but it continued to deteriorate.
I sent a detailed email to customer service asking for replacement with a larger size, thinking that it might just be too delicate of a plant to be shipped at such a small size. I offered to cover the cost to increase the size of the plant. I received a “canned” response, and they sent the same exact sized plant.
The replacement looked slightly better (but not by much). I planted it, and it is technically still alive, but looks awful.
I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on plants from Great Garden Plants this summer. My other plants were great to decent (I have no other complaints considering that shipping plants in the mail is challenging, and I do believe they do a good job).
However, the lackluster customer service makes me hesitant to order from GGP again.

I gave them a month and still not healthy.

Well packaged, healthy plants. I planted them right away, and they’re growing and thriving!
The plants are doing well. It's early spring here in the high desert, so they haven't grown noticeably since planting but are healthy and all arrived in good condition.
I like them but haven't seen much growth yet, maybe it just takes awhile.
