More Information

Description Carex pennsylvanica, or Pennsylvania sedge, grows as a lush, semi-evergreen carpet in tough-to-grow spaces. The soft, arching green blades reach 8-10" long. This low maintenance and durable grass can serve as a no-mow lawn replacement, especially in areas where typical grasses struggle. Try growing it under pine or oak trees as a solution to patchy lawn growth. Shallow, dense roots bind to topsoil, making it ideal for shady slopes and erosion protection. As a native plant that thrives in shallow, moist soil, it will fit perfectly in rain, rock, or native plant gardens! Details How To Grow

Pennsylvania sedge as ground cover

I ordered the quart sized sedge nd they arrived in great shape. They are looking good so far, with the help of a little rain after a month-long drought in September in the northeast.

Great groundcover

Love pennsylvania sedge, very pretty, covers well and the rabbits don’t like this one.

Pennsylvania Sedge

The Sedge arrived perfect. I planted them and they took well but it has been too hot here. Even watering daily the grasses died. I will try them again maybe in the fall to see if that will be a better time to plant them.

So far looks nice!

PA sedge plants arrived in great condition, and they look good, with very little care, on the shady slope where I planted them. The proof will be in the pudding next spring, of course, but if these are thriving, I shall order more. Thx!
