More Information

Description Between the white flowers and dark foliage, Wine & Spirits™ weigela (Weigela florida) may be your new favorite landscape shrub (it is ours!). Dark burgundy or near-black foliage provides interest from spring to fall. It serves as the perfect backdrop to light green flower buds, which bloom into white tubular flowers in late spring. This new variety from Proven Winners ColorChoice shrubs puts a refreshing twist on the beloved Wine & Roses weigela, and we're sure it will become an instant classic, too.

You're not the only one that will admire weigelas in your landscape. Hummingbirds and butterflies adore the flowers. Weigelas are undemanding deciduous shrubs that are easy to grow and deer resistant, making them an easy choice for your garden. Simply plant them in a sunny spot and enjoy!

Looked great upon arrival...didn't make it thru the winter

Plants looked great upon arrival, were planted and sited properly, given protection (fencing to keep rabbits from "snacking" on them). However, they did NOT survive the winter. As there was only a "60 day" warranty on these, there isn't a whole lot I can do except take my business elsewhere.

We’re sorry you’re having trouble with your plants! Our fall guarantee covers plants received after September 1 until May 2025, so we cover anything during this time, but outside of that period w...

Going well so far

So far, so good. Weather has oscillated between extreme wet and extreme hot and they are still hanging in there.

All perfectly healthy.

Beautiful plants! Arrived in good condition. Nice sized plants that are doing nicely. The summer heat has now cooked the leaves even though I have kept them irrigated. Hope this plant recovers!

Truly Delightful!

All 8 of my Wine & Spirits Weigela arrived in their infamous well packaged boxes, in perfect condition, and a hearty size. They have been thriving in the ground now for 3 weeks and already the majority of their leaves have turned the plum/black color I was anticipating. I followed the planting and care instructions provided in the shipment to a T. The weigela have already grown in size and bulk. I have purchased many plants from Great Gardens Plants and all have been a success so far! Thank you so much!!
